Nursing as a Career

This is an excellent essay written from the heart: It's an adventure, a continuous learning process that I embark on bravely each day, in search of life changing events and miracles.

Touching the lives of others is a treasure chest overflowing with metaphorical gold, whether the help I provide is of great measure or remains unnoticed. The pride I hold in saying, "I'm going to be a nurse," is immeasurable.

Nursing is more than a profession of integrity and compassion, it is a privilege that measures out my values as a human being and the responsibilities granted to me with the precious gift of life. The first time I truly touched a person's life, although the encounter was brief, was surprisingly fulfilling.

She was kind and sweet in every sense of the word. She was just as caring for the other patients that she attended to. I was more than impressed. It is not easy to make a terminally or chronically ill person have a smile on their face with so much ease as she did. Of course, I had to inquire more from my Nana regarding her.

Knowing Nana, that statement was worth investigating further. Long story short, the nurse was touching the lives of patients in every way that she could. Her kindness and care made the patients filled with hope rather than despair. I knew that I had to have a chat with her and when I did, it was life-changing. She was an inspiration and made me want to be a nurse. People get into different careers for a variety of reasons. Personally, after having the talk with the nurse, I decided to do some research about the profession.

By the time I was done, I knew that nursing was definitely what I wanted to do. There are two factors that play a significant role in making a decision on the career path we take:.

Considering nursing is more of a hands-on kind of job, there are personal attributes that one must hold to be successful and good at it. My research led me to match the traits with some of my skills and I knew that it is what I want to do. The listed are traits that every nurse needs to be in a position to take good care of patients. Luckily, I possess the traits and I saw it as a sign that nursing was really what I was meant to go into. However, the attributes are applicable to a number of professions.

What counts is the personal choices that we make. Why I want to be a nurse essay expresses why anyone can be a nurse but it is the choices that we make that really dictate what we eventually end up doing. One thing is certain though, nursing is not for the faint of heart and requires a lot of sacrifice and patience. For a nurse, it is even more challenging considering that they are dealing with people in pain who at times tend to be rude and harsh.

They created the list of things they wanted to do before they die, and followed it. This film shows how the view of a person changes when he or she hears the diagnosis, and how the will to life can modify the disease flow. Of course, the end of the story was unexpected, and one of the main heroes died, but the second got a chance for a new life.

I think this film is about how hard circumstances change the life of people, their thoughts, and relationships. Another reason for nursing career path choice was different fundraising campaigns I see online each day, on Facebook people from different countries asking for the help. These stories are hard to read, and because I am not able to help financially these people, I decided to support them in another way, to become a nurse and take care and support them in a professional way.

The first step besides reading and researching nursing programs was visiting medical center which helps kids with cancer and their parents. It was the hardest thing for me in my life, to see such sweet beautiful and smart children who from their birth are fighting a disease. They are just kids, who want to go to school, have friends and spend time in the park with their parents. They are dreaming of becoming healthy and living like other kids, enjoying sports and spending time with their parents.

For Christmas, they wish health to everyone surrounding them. Here children of years old are older than the majority of adults, because they do understand how much the life costs and do have the will to live; I saw it in their eyes.

I was just a volunteer who helped with simple day to day tasks at the center. I saw smiling nurses who used toys, candies and other things to help kids to go through treatment procedures: Here are older people fighting with this illness.

And this place is also full of positive people who support each other.
